Tax/Customs On Hoody

    Well People just a quick Question Re Tax+Custom on hollister gear,i bought a hoody for 39 dollars and they added on 40 dollars for shipping,this being my first time i was naive regarding tax etc..heard that fedex like to charge a lot more...just wondering for an item that cost's 79 dollars around 62 euros how much would i be giving out for tax/custom?anyone with a previous experience of this kind or anyone who knows what the story is please help.any info would be appreciated.

    there is a customs and tax section on boards somewhere, and calculators on the net.

    Generally anything I get from the states I never get charged customs on once it's shipped via USPS, if it arrives with DHL or Fedex then yes, and they are more expense as they charge admin charges ... Fed-Ex charge €10 admin, plus the charges and then their own 21% vat on top of that.

    Also if you buy an item on sale shall we say from $200 to $50, the seller has to declare the market value so to them the market value is $200 and will put that in the paperwork, so you get charged on $200 instead of the actual $50 that you paid. That has happened me a couple of times when buying stuff in sales from the states!

    Based on what they (ETA: they, meaning FedEx) charged me last week, I calculate €25.60, based on a rate of 1.23 dollar to the euro.

    13.40 VAT (21% of €64) + 10 admin + 2.10 vat on the admin.

    It's less than €120 total costs so you are not liable for customs duty, on VAT.

    hi i bought a laptop which still has not arrived and could any one tell me how customs keep in waiting and will i have to pay more money and how do i pay the money and also is usps in the us a courier or does it come with your mail the post women and does any one have the number for usps thanks
