I inadvertently shot a feral pigeon over standing crops the other day...I am aware that it is perfectly legal to shoot wood pigeon over standing crops...but as far as I am aware it’s illegal to shoot feral pigeons...am I correct here?

No. They are the biggest spreader of salmonella on farms,i'm asked to shoot them regularly.

When I'm shooting pigeons I'd get 10 woodies to 1 feral. Problem is finding a place to throw them when you're collecting the good ones. They're riddled with disease.

Yeah - filty...riddled with diseases. I always carry a pair of surgical gloves with me when decoying to pick up crows & feral pigeons.
