Phobias

Have you got any phobias? Serious ones? Do they affect your life, day to day?

For me, I'm pretty scared of clowns which (thankfully :D) are easily avoided, and rodents.

The rodents make me paranoid, like a crazy person. I lay in bed, listening out for the least little sound that would indicate I'm not alone. I worked myself into such a state one night, so much so I was almost hyperventilating, and it turns out the noise was a butterfly.

I avoid walking near hedges/growth incase one jumps out on me. I would rather walk in the middle of the road and risk being run over, tbh.

I've heard about weird ones like food touching on plates, or lettuce, or mayonaise, or cotton wool. Mad!

    I'm terrified of spiders.

I blame my Dad and sister for this completely. As a kid I'd watch my older sister scream in terror and throw things at spiders from afar. Then, to prove that they were harmless, my Dad let the things run all over him. Nasty, and really scared little Lands. So now I'm arachnophobic.

On the upside, while proving my pet mouse was also harmless to my sister, dad the genius got bitten by it. Served him right! :pac:

    Moths and daddy-long-legs

I absolutely freak out if there is one of either in the room. I panic and shake and sweat and generally flip out until someone gets rid of them for me. I panic when I see a window open with a light on in the room!

    Luposlipaphobia

The fear of being pursued by timber wolves around a kitchen table while wearing socks on a newly-waxed floor.

I hate the feeling of coins, especially copper coins... or anything made of copper really.. I always have to wash my hands after washing them.
I just googled this, I think cuprolaminophobia is the word for a fear of coins? Yock. :(

This damn thread gave me nightmares last night. I was in my kitchen and a flippin' tarantula the size of a plate was crawling on the glass of the back door... I woke up screaming like a little girl. :o

I have a terrible fear of heights but at the same time i use that phobia to get an even bigger thrill especially on rollercoasters. Next summer I plan on doing a skydive and bungee jump, should be terrifying, cant wait! :pac:

They won't let you go bungee jumping or especially sky diving with those arms.

If pulpuslacerataphobia is the fear of paper cuts then I guess pulpuslaceratasoculaphobia would be the fear of a papercut to the eye.

Spiders and all creepy crawlies and flying things like bees and wasps, even butterflies.
I've had to use my main bathroom for the past two weeks, cos there's a fcuking huge spider in my en suite and he won't go away.

Clowns, puppets. I will not go near a plane unless I'm high as a kite. I'm not fond of cockroaches, ants, daddy long legs. I no longer fear moths, little basterds ate through all my clothes last year so now I bravely fight the good fight.

I have a fear of all kinds of violence, especially when there is blood involved. I absolutely cannot watch scenes of extreme violence, torture or horror in movies or tv programmes, I just get really distressed and can't sleep. Does anyone else react in that way to violence?! :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,404 ✭✭✭Lone Stone

agoraphobia >_< ow and eaw wigg's seriously if i see an ear wigg i flip out mainly because when i was a kid on a holiday one time there was a nest of earwig's over my bed and a week before a teacher told they go in your ear so i was freaked out for ages.

As said before I am terrified of moth and daddy long legs. I have this new tennis racket type thing that just kills them instantly when you hit the creature. Sorry but I prefer my tennis racket thing a bit more than boards because boards won't kill the moths and daddy long legs.

I have a paralysing fear of butterflies indoors. I love them outside, not quite enough to let one land on me but to get quite close. Inside they totally freak me out. It's the fluttering noise, yuk, just thinking about it. Also people behind me on stairs, that is completely my older sisters' fault!
