Strange Board Game question

Not much to work on here but does anyone know the name of a board game that would have been on the go in the early 1980's that fits this description?

All I seem to remember is the game consisted of a vertical orange plastic wall and the object of the game had something to do with collecting/avoiding blue counters that fell down the board. For some reason I'm getting a donkey kong vibe of barrels falling down ramps but that could be totally wrong. Just in case that causes confusion it was definetly a physical board game of some description rather than video game.

Like I say the object of the game I'm not really sure of. All I can remember for sure is the orange board and the blue pieces. Sorry, not much to work on but maybe it'll be enough for someone to recognise.

    All info welcome.

You make it sound like Connect Four, but surely that's too obvious?

    Wish it was!

Nah this game had sort of ramps with stuff falling from the top. I almost want to to say it was along the lines of that game Downfall but I'm thinking that would put more people off the scent than on it.

That said, it seemed to have the same physical idea as downfall (ie a vertical plastic enviornment rather than a "board" per se) but that's probably as far as the similarities went tho.

    Could it be tic-tac?

Google images is throwing up all kinds of stuff. Could you point me in the direction of a pix of this game?

I'm wondering if it could be Battleship!

Hi! Nope I know that game and it's defo not battleship.

Actually now that I think of it maybe it wasn't strictly a vertical board. It might have just been a horizontal board tilted at an angle to create momentum. However there was definitely some sort of downward momentum aspect to this game or movement of pieces by means of gravity.

Another thing that pops into my head when I think of it is that game "screwball scramble" but it wasn't that game either! Also I might have got the colours inverted (eg blue board and orange counters) but there defo was blue and orange as the primary colours to this game.

My neighbours had every kind of board game imaginable, so my mind is working overtime to try and figure out this game! I was also thinking Ker-Plunk, but it's heavy balls rather than counters.

Can I ask from what decade you would have played this game?

Your post is going to have me baffled for the rest of the day :D

Not Kerplunk. Definitely an 80's game. (early 80's too I'd reckon)

I remember a friend of mine picking one up at a jumble sale when we were little kids and that's why I've been obsessed with it ever since. I think the only experience I ever had of it in operation was from an advert on tv (because the one my friend bought was broken/incomplete or something?) so that's prob why I'm so vague about it all.

Will I move this to Toys & Boardgames? You might get more answers there.

Well it worked a charm last time with the Tenta I suppose! So yes, I guess.

A shiny new "thanks" will be your reward if I get the answer :)

(sorry but my religion prohibits me from offering cash rewards)

Right, lets see if we can't solve this.

    Is it:
    Avalanche?
    Up Against Time?

    Never heard of it!

Now are you going to go out and buy it for old time's sake?

I'm usually a demon for buyin retro stuff but look at that trailer it doesn't seem exactly seem like a mindblowing gam. What? Stack a bunch of barrels on top of each other before a pinball hits the bottom? That's it?

Kids today (and I still include myself in that group) don't know how lucky they are with their PS3s and their higher education (copyright - Johnny Giles)!
