    Hey all,
I'm looking for a piece of music to walk up the aisle to. Something with a good build up, probably classical.....
We're into metal/rock but don't want anything that will give the aunts and uncles a heart attack, just enough to get the gathering suitably excited and revved up for a party :)
I like the sounds of something like Metallicas S&M album.
    Suggestions on a postcard please........

We had the theme tune from Eurovision. Not everyone's cup of tea I know but Eurovision is the highlight of my year & it gave all the guests a giggle :D

If you're getting married in a church, you'd want to talk to your priest. Benedict has brought in changes to prevent liturgical innovations. That means clamping down on irreverent music, screening people's eulogies at funerals and preventing situations such as this from arising:

What about something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kn6B8-27xsg

It's Sarah McLachlan, so not exactly like Metallica ;) but it's quite powerful, I think. Not your standard, but not mad enough to give a priest a conniption...

My cousin walked up the aisle to Nothing Else Matters performed by a string quartet.

My wife walked up the aisle to an instrumental of Everlong by Foo Fighters.

    The choices are endless! :)

    great suggestions everyone - thanks!
No priest at the ceremony so we can play whatever we like (within reason!). We're gettin' handfasted. Not quite sure where yet though ;)

We both always wanted to use Van Halen's 'Eruption' to go up the aisle to!

    *LOVE* it! :D

But in the end, we got married in a registry office, so we never got the opportunity.

Go on...listen to the album version and give it some serious consideration (the live versions get a little lengthy, and EVH can a bit too carried away with himself) ;)

Hubby just rushed out of the bathroom, mid-shave, to find out why I was playing Eruption, loudly, on Youtube...

So I explained your dilemma/request...and he's suggested Fields of the Nephilim 'Harmonica Man'

I can kind of see where he's coming from...

    But I prefer Eruption :D

Especially from about 56 seconds on

It's an actual classical piece but I considered Ravel's Bolero for mine. It has a great beat and buildup...

In the end went with U2's All I want is you but still think maybe should have gone with the Bolero...

Is this a silly question ... What does 'handfasted' mean??
