Problems with O2 and GMAIL

    Hi all,

    i have just got the plug in internet for my macbook and its working fine on all sites except when i check my GMAIL, when i check this it tells comes up with error and forces shut down. it only happens with this plug in and with gmail..... does anyone know if this is a known problem? any help appreciated :confused:

    Have you googled gmail crashes mac ?

    its not the mac, sure i have this ages and have had no problem on google and in gmail when connected to net through wi/fi and stuff..

    You're not getting too many replies here so if I were you I'd read through what ever google turns up no matter how daft and unlikely and see if there is any similarity at all to what happening in your case. It might help if you can understand what can cause a crash and then see if there is anything similar going on on your system.

    Start by looking at what is different, its not just that you are connecting to 3 its also the modem hardware/firmware, the modem drivers and the modem software that might be part of the problem as they aren't in the equation when you normally connect.

    If you can try a different modem just in case the drivers are the problem, can't even think of a reason why that would cause a problem just with Gmail but if nothing else works it needs trying.

    Really daft idea but I'd also plug in the 3 dongle open the 3 software (or whatever dialer you use) but not make a connection while I was connecting through WiFi. It doesn't prove much as you might not get the problem but if it still does crash it would indicate some issue with the modem itself or its drivers.

    I'd also take a look at a few other webmail sites to see if they also create the same issue.

    One other point you say "check my GMAIL" are you checking online or downloading your mail to an email client on your machine - big difference in the two.

    I'm not a mac user so sorry if my questions/suggestions are dumb I'm just trying to give you a few things to think about.
