    Hello,

I'm hoping to do the Dublin marathon for the first time this year and as the day is approaching looking to get a bit more scientific in my approach as I'm hoping to break 4 hours.

I recently bought a beurer HR monitor and despite reading the instructions, can't seem to get it to pick up my heart rate - the very basics!

This is proving very frustrating so if anyone has any advice I would appreciate it. I also recently got an IPhone and downloaded the MaymyRun app. Is this one recommended by anyone on here? Are there better available?

Also, can anyone advise on holders that can be bought for the Iphone when running so the disruption of carrying is minimised?

    Many Thanks.

Did you wet the receiver pads on the back of the strap?

No I did not! I'll try that. The instructions say that the monitor should just 'pick it up' when you start exercising, but that hasn't happened yet.

I'll do as you suggest and hope that works.

    Thanks.

On the HR strap I have you have to wet the two rubber bits on either side of the centre piece so the contact between your skin and the receivers is moist to pick up the electric pulse so hopefully thats your problem or maybe you just don't have a heart:eek:

Good man. I've been told I have a heart of gold, but I think she was after it to melt it down for profit :D

I'll give that a go in the morning and report back. Ta

There is always the chance that the strap battery is flat. Did it look as if it was in the shop for long? Some have a plastic tag that needs to be removed before use to make the contacts.
