I'm just wondering with this new rule about taxing commercial vehicles as private if not used commercailly will mean I no longer have to pay the commercial rate at toll booths!! I mean if the car is taxed privatly, insured privatly and used as a private car then there is no reason I should still have to pay the higher rate would this be correct?? And as I've heard so many people say recently, cars are classified by use not by layout, so private use should equal private charge!!

I know the difference is only €1.40 but I use the toll twice a day so that certainly adds up over a year!!

    Have a guess.

Well I'd guess that they'll continue to rob me as they will only change the rules in such a way they make more money......but I'm hoping I'll be pleasantly surprised!

If your vehicle is registered as a category B or C commercial, then it will continue to be tolled as a commercial - regardless of usage.

I've been charged Commercial rate 10 (TEN) times, on the M3, since it opened. Apparently they, if in doubt, look at a photograph and decide, because I have tinted windows, it is a commercial. Apparently looking up the registration details, and verifying the vehicle is a passenger vehicle, doesn't wash!

How convenient I have been over-charged so many times, and never under-charged?
