    New Guinness world record

Drive a truck with trailer for 65 km in five and a half hours ...

    ....backwards !

The chap is a driving instructor in the German army

I made my truck driving licence with the same outfit on a truck with a two axle trailer and I could back it up about 100 meters before I had to pull forward again to get it all straight and start all over. Thankfully in the test they only looked for about ten meters straight and reversing it around 90 degrees (which is actually easier than keeping it straight)

Yeah that takes a bit of skill alright. The beeb beeb beeb from the reversing siren must have been ringing in his head after 5 1/2 hours.

Given the slow speed it wouldn't be much different to leaving the engine idling for the same time. Electronic fan/temperature controls would look after the temp.

Great skill and endurance to keep that up for 5.5 hours!

I seen that one before allright. He is some driver in fairness..

    Unreal.

Suppose it was mostly flat too, looks like a track of some kind in parts of the video...

very skilful but the length of the trailer and the truck helped, try reversing a short wheel jeep and a 8 x5 trailer , would rather be steering his outfit any day, if i knew how of course:rolleyes:

Reversing a two axle steered trailer is a total headwrecker ..the more you think about it, the more you get it wrong

You turn your steering wheel to the left, your cab moves to the right, the end of your truck turns to the left, the front of your trailer turns to the right, the end of your trailer turns left ...but only if you get the steering input exactly right. Too little and your trailer runs astray, too much and the whole shebang ties itself into a knot ..and if you have a trailer coupling with a lot of play (like a NATO coupling) the whole thing goes wrong without any steering input at all :D

Legally you are suppose to have a break after 4.5 hours for 45 minutes.I hope he did this;):D.Seriously though fair play to the guy, well done.

If I drove weaving all over the road like that I'd be arrested for drink driving.

Well done to him. Serious concentration and skill to do this.

I wonder what made him decide to do it though, would you wake up one morning and wonder how long you could reverse a lorry around for? :pac:

    fabulous skill.

A few years ago there was a sponsored-for-charity one of those held from Clonbur in Co Galway to.......Cong (iirc)....done by local lads using those artic trailers used for hauling forestry logs..........anyone who knows that country knows it's a ****ty road driving FORWARD's, never mind back !!

But, we don't have to travel that far for records: Last week a lad called Shane Egan (Irish) set a new WORLD wheelie record on a bike, and topped the old record by 10mph in the process...............he did it at 181.5mph !!

And this is no millisecond front wheel pop: to qualify, you have to keep it aloft for a minimum of 1km........!!

......mmm, I wonder where he practices ?? ;)

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
