This will be our very first seminar to host and were happy to bring Eddie Kone over to conduct a 3 hour bjj seminar here at our gym in Ashbourne on Sunday the 26th of Sept at 11am. This will be a GI and NOGI seminar (he prefers with the gi) The cost for this will be 40euro and ALL proceeds fom this seminar will go to the Irish Haemophilia Society, a charity that is very close to us and this will go for any seminar we host here in the future. There is only 20 places available so first come first served. Any body interested in this can email me at the address below and there are some details about Eddie and the charity. Cheers!!

If I can organise a day and not get divorced I'll be there. If I can't I'll pay anyway and be a no show it's a very good cause.

Yes thats correct. Past tents so no links there now. We are PMA not anything else. Not sure what that has to do with the seminar were hosting? Im sure you could always PM me any questions you might have about us or email us.

I'm not attacking anyone here, but your right, this doesn't really belong on this thread.
I'm interested in the background of a club hosting a BJJ seminar, I asked a question and got an honest answer.
I have one more question relating to PMA, I don't want to ask it by PM or by email because I want the community to see it. Can I ask it here or will I start a new thread?
I will leave you all in peace then, at least for a while :)

Well you'll have to ask the OP - but please bare something in mind before going any further...

This thread & seminar will benefit the Irish Haemophilia Society - do you want to continue?.

The reasons behing this seminar is 1 for the charity and 2 so that this club can be introduced to BJJ. I dont see what the problem is and plus you emailed me the other day about something diffrent so why didn you just ask me this then?? Im not gonna publicly display myself or this club at such an early stage so any questions you have can be sent by PM or email. Thanks

Well you've been above reproach since registering here with boards.ie

You've been a fantastic addition to the forum, you leave us in no doubts that your club will be one you and your members will be very proud of. And I wish you ever success in the future.

I didn't ask you then because I wasn't aware of it. If your not happy answering questions on a public forum I'll leave it at that.
Good luck with the seminar and with the club, I genuinely hope both are a great success.

Old clubs & associations can be like ex-girlfriends, they're ex's for a reason and best left in the past.. Can we just leave it at that now please.

Sorry Mak, just have to add this-The OP trained with said club and was never linked to them through his new club, his link was in the past as and nothing to do with his new club.

Now to get back on topic-i'll be over to the seminar with a few lads, look forward to it.

Does peoples past links not effect their qualifications to teach at a new club? if a black belt in bjj comes to Ireland , but nobody knows were he got his belt from and he refuses to tell anyone, maybe he learned the techiqune off utube, if i train with him and he grades me to black in bjj, is my grade valid or not?

PMA is not kidding anyone, he is saying straight out that he is starting at the bottom and learning from there, he is getting training with other more experienced people and not lying to his clients that he is something that he is not, on a side not, as far as the belts he earned in the place he used to train in Kickboxing, as far as i know there was never any problems with that anyway. MMA wise was a different story and PMA is rectifying these concerns, if he made claims that he was teaching to an advanced level i'd be the 1st to question that.. he is not..

Its refreshing that a club starts out and says it as it is, this is the best way to get respect and show your improvement over the years..

All clubs start from the bottom.

Some guys from PMA were at barry's grappling competition and the lads I was speaking with were bang on chaparoos. That's just a little anecdote that is neither here nor there but I'll just share.

Hi all, im afraid this seminar has to be cancelled as we didn have enough interest. PMA will be making a donation of 100euro to the charity anyway and for Liam and Martin they have been offered there kind donations back. Hopefully in the future when we are open longer and more estabilished we can do more for charity!!! Thanks to the few guys who did have there names down from here and we will do something small inhouse for them.
