Hibernia and dole

Hi, Im just looking for feedback from previous Hibernia students. Is it possible to get Jobseekers Allowance while doing this course in Galway? I ve heard horror stories of certain SW offices not recognising Hib as a part time course..Due to the astronomical price of the course-nearing 10 grand when Gaeltacht etc. is factored in, it is almost impossible to afford despite having an income.
How has everyone else managed? Does the dole office offer exemption from signing when doing TP etc.? If working for 4 and 5 block weeks its gonna be difficult to reach office at designated time and date..Any help is much appreciated

If in fulltime education you can't sign on. I've had quite a few students do this, it involved either saving or loans.

"This is a part-time course so in theory you can be in full-time employment."-Hibernia website quotation.
Can anyone else give their experience of working full time/receiving JSA in this situation?

Hey I know this is an old thread but I too have the same issue. I'm on jobs seekers at the mo. I'm going to sign off for teaching practise 4 weeks. Im afraid when u try sign back on, they won't except it as part time. Could anyone shed some light on similar experiences? What happened with yourself? I'm paying 40 euro Loan back I really need the money till I find a job again.

i claimed jsb while on hibernia. :) I alos told them straight out bou my course.. social welfare did kick up a fuss when my case was closed while i was on tp though but in my opinion my social welfare office kick up a fuss about ANYTHING ive never met women like them! You would actualy think it was there money!
But yeah hibernia is so expensive like and you are eligible for part time work.

Job seekers is for people actively seeking employment. Are you?

Presumably as you are studying with Hibernia College, then you will not be eligible for this.
