Speaker Wire

Looking at a new sound system I see that most places sell speaker cable separately. But at €1 per meter it seems a bit over the top to me (or worse at £1 per yard up north).
I know it's not a huge outlay. It just seems a bit over the top, and maybe justified because it has the name 'speaker' attached.
Anyone know of better value or if simple two core bell cable will suit, or does the dearer stuff have some special hi-tech nonesense included?

If its just standard stuff, most good electrical wholesalers will have it by the roll.

For specialist stuff peatswholesale on kyelmore road ballyfermot will have it - again on a roll. http://www.peatswholesale.ie/home.php

Thanks to both. I've checked out the techie section on the site also.
