I was wondering if anyone can machine a simple steel pipe, inner diameter to take an aeg barrel, out diameter to suit whatever it has to be.

The above link shows the star fnc, it has a partial barrel back to the handguard from the gas block, then no outer barrel, then resumes at the trunnion simply being a stump with a delta ring around it.

AFAIK both these parts are steel, and if I had a simple length of pipe in the correct inner and outer diameter, it could be welded at either end and ground down flush at the weld marks. I'd post on the two end pieces, and measurements.

I think it would stiffen up the front end and I would use a lipo for the reduced space.

Anyone have access to the required machining tools and welding? I'd pay obviously and could refinish the part myself. I am just interested if this could be done, if so, I would go for it.

Go to your local metal fabricator. Putting on a 14 mm CCW thread might be a problen though if they have the right dies your laughing but im not sure of the thread pitch for barrels they might be different they might not be.
