    Anyone any ideas of the best way to get to Belfield UCD by bus?

    (Located at Wesley College part of Ballinteer)

    Thanks!

    I'll try to be more helpful.

    From Wesley College to UCD would be a 30/35 minute walk and not 20 minutes.

    The 17 operates from Dundrum to UCD. The nearest stop to you is located on Dundrum Road north of the junction where the LUAS bridge is located (the stop is outside Uncle Tom's Cabin pub).

    To get to that stop either:
    1) Walk (15 minutes);
    2) Take a 14/14a to the terminus at Dundrum and walk to Uncle Tom's Cabin (5 minutes on the bus and 5 minute walk); ,
    3) Take the 48a to the stop on Dundrum road directly (5 minutes or so).

    Also, the 116 has a departures at 0740 from Ballinteer that will take you to UCD directly operating via Sandyford and Stillorgan taking 30 minutes or so.

    Bus times are at:

    14 and 14a (allow 35-40 minutes off-peak from town to Wesley):

    48a (allow 5 minutes from Ballinteer to Wesley):

    17 (allow 5 minutes or so from times at Churchtown Road):

    116 (there is an 0740 departure from Ballinteer also not in the timetable):

    Is cycling an option?

    Ballinteer to UCD would be a long and tedious walk. If it was me, I'd get the 48A to Bird Avenue and walk across to UCD from there (about 10 mins) Cycling in sunny weather would certainly be an enjoyable alternative.

    It's about a 45 minute walk from Wesley I'd say; fine if you're feeling energetic but a bit much to do twice a day every day, especially if it's wet. The 48A is your best bet, unless you want to cycle, it'd still be nearly half an hour from Dundrum after getting the 14.

    It's basically a joke unless you've a car. I live up in the woodpark area, and getting to UCD by bus realistically takes a minimum of an hour and a half, unless you get the once a day each way 116 service. To be honest, if the weather's fine you're better off walking the entire way and forgetting about the bus.
