Transferring your Handicap

I left the Dublin club I was in when I moved to Kilkenny at the end of 2007. I am now ready to join a club down here so rang my old club to ask for a handicap cert as I thought that even though it's a few years old it is still transferable.

They told me they can't issue a cert as I'm gone over 6 months....does anyone know if that means that I have to enter three new 'For Handicap' cards in my new club?

Wouldn't seem to make sense as I played off 10 but if I put in three cards I don't think I'd be 10 (maybe more like 13/15) but know I'll get back to 10 pretty quickly as I start playing more often again.

Correct, once it's 6+ months since you've been a member anywhere then your must hand in 3 cards 'for handicap'. Just add a note to say what (& when) your previous handicap was when you hand in your 3 cards (together) and that will be considered when deciding on your new handicap.

    Thanks Licksy,
Yes - going to join Gowran. Played just about every course in Kilkenny over the past couple of years and always came back to Gowran as the most enjoyable. Lots of good feedback about the members also!

Appearently there is a very small membership there with only about 50 playing in weekend competitions!! Should make winning easy

(at least I was told that when playing a barton cup match there by the 2 members we were playing against)
