Ive a problem with my iphone 3gs where it says im connected to wifi but it just doesnt acknowledge it when I open Safari or any of the apps.

In my own house (eircom bb) it works perfectly but for some reason in my girlfriends house (BT) it will connect to the wifi but then when I open safari it says safari cannot open because its not connected to the internet, even though I am and the little icon in the top left shows.

I looked up apple support about renewing lease thing and trying forget this network but nothing has worked.

Thing is it worked the first day even though every now and again it would come up I had an incorrect password which I didnt. Is this a common problem with BT broadband as ive never once had a problem connecting at home on Eircom.

Funny the way you right away blame BT broadband, yet its only your phone that its not working... :D;)

This problem of yours is usually combination of your iOS and wifi encryptions settings.

What OS are you running on your phone? let me guess you are on 4.01 and your girlfriend BT wifi security is set to WEP?

Assuming you have access to your girlfriends router (Ooooo matron), check the config page for the router (usually 192.168.1.254 or 192.168.1.1), see if it shows your phone on the network. Also check security options, for instance is mac filtering enabled.
When you are connected using the phone to the wifi, try to navigate to the same router config page, see if you can view it.
Could also for test purposes turn off security on the router, delete the connection from your phone and try to connect. If it works, put back on security delete connection and try again.
Make sure of spelling of encryption key. if possible, email it to your phone so you can copy and paste it.

I'm having the same sort of problem and was wondering what's the proper combination for wifi encryption and iOS 4?

Sometimes I just can't even I find wifi and when I do it just keeps dropping the wifi.

    Cheers.
