    Hey Lads & Lassies,

    Looking for some help folks,

Do any of ye know of any Athletics Tracks in the Cork area open to the public . . . . . . . . . I know of CIT & UCC, I know I can join UCC.

I'm very keen to find other tracks but cant!! ( UCC Mardyke is too far from me and is very expensive to join, I cant find any info on Joe Public using the CIT track )

    Any help appreciated.

You can just walk onto the Mardyke Arena track. The staff don't come outside the building so it's unlikely you'll get checked. I'm a student and use the track/gym facilities regularly.

Edit: I see it's too far from you but you can always use it if you have no luck with any alternatives.

I use CIT's track regularly. I am a part time student there but have never been asked for ID so presume they don't really check anyone. Some clubs pay for it's use so I try to avoid it while they are there. However they are pretty strict about staying out of Lanes 1 & 2 for training so you have adjust your starts if doing 400's, 800's etc.
There are no other tartan tracks in the vicinity of the city.

You can join CIT for around €30 for the year.
and previous poster is right, you can possibly use it without joining, but there are caretakers around and there are camera's on the track so you will be seen and they may ask.
My logic, why risk embarrasement and possibly wasting a session for the sake of smallish money, especially if you plan on using it frequently. If its a 1 off session, thats different!
If you do want to join, contact the sports office, contact number if on their web site and they will send you out a form.
its booked most nights from 6 by clubs,(list by entrance) but individual membership still allow you use it during this time, but the clubs have priority.
CIT is not open on Sun, Mardyke is.

i don't think there is any other tartan tracks you can join.
i think there is one in youghal area but as far as I know its not open to public

Cheers mate . . . . .and thanks to the other folks who replied too . .

€30 a year is spot on . . . . its only one or two nights a week I'd like to use it anyway . . .for no more that 30 - 40 mins at the time max.
