Hi,i'm new to this forum.I have 5 good quality heifers weighting about 350kgs.They are currently on grass and a basic nut. They are not fit to kill. What mix/ration and how much would be advisable to feed them so they are fit to kill?

Somebody had mentioned to feed a mix of maize, rolled barley and a basic nut. What ye think?

I dont fatten cattle myself as there are easier ways to lose money:D but feed levels depend on type of cattle and target market. I think butchers heifers killed about 450 kg liveweight and around me are mostly angus and hereford. continental heifers killed 600 kg plus i think. I am sure this will be corrected by one of the beef men. If these are the target market then you have a bit of time to go yet. Too much meal too soon can lead to overfat animals which just cost you money
