Speeding Fine

    I received a speeding fine in the post, stating that on 30th June I had been caught speeding. There's a mximum of 56 days from that date to pay the fine. I calculated that 56 days from June 30th was today, 25th August. When I went to pay it today, I was told that the 56 days has lapsed and now I'll be getting a summons (and better hope for a nice judge). Anyone had any expierence of this? Am I missing something? If I subtract 56 days from today, I get June 30th! Why couldn't I pay the fine?
