I recently bought Braun's silk-epil epilator and its doing wonders for me.
Now i have to say, its not as long lasting as i thought it would be and it is pretty expensive but it seems to work (no pain, no gain eh)

What do you think and have ya had any bad experience with them?

A beautician friend of mine told me to redo mine everyday for a week at the start and it would weaken it, has worked a treat.

Horrific pain when attempting the bikini line other than that fine. I find it hard to do my knees though. I find it best to exfoliate first, and if I do it two days in a row it lasts ok. The problem is all the hair isn't in the same stage of growth cycle so it's not that consistent (have same problems with waxing) but when I stick to it religiously once a week it's great. I'm too lazy though, it takes too long.

I got it mainly for my underarms and its ok but there are certain hairs which it will not pick up and I have to wax. Find legs too painful and too big an area to contemplate.

ams I only find it painful on my legs when the hair is too long - if I've been lazy and left it for ages, I Veet and then start the epilation 3 days later and it's grand.

I didnt leave the legs for long, just a couple of days. I have blonde hairs on my legs so it doesnt bother me too much to shave as I dont need to do all over! Just felt it was too sore and time consuming but if I had darker hair I would definately make the extra effort!

The novelty soon wore off tbh and I haven't used it in about 2 years! Last time I did i was before going on a month-long holiday where I didn't want to be shaving every other day, otherwise I'm back to a quick swipe with the razor. Might dig it out again actually and give it another go. It's so time-consuming though and my legs never feel as smooth as after shaving.

An Epilator is an alternative to waxing. It works on the same principle, removing the hair from the root causing it to grow back finer and not stubbly.
Can be painful for some who aren't used to waxing but the pain will gradually decrease.
It can be expensive but it works out cheaper in the long run. At least thats how i see it.
Prices can range from E45 to E150 or more depending on the brand.
It takes roughly a 5 to 6 days to grow out and its not even obvious.
Check out Tesco cause i remember they were on sale for half price during summer. Not sure if it still is tho.

I mainly use my epilator for my legs and I think that its great. Although it does take longer than shaving and I always find hairs the next day that I missed at the time. I do think that I get more ingrown hairs from this than waxing. I'd love to try the new wet/dry one - does anyone have that?

I bought one when they came out first about a year ago. It's good but to be honest the novelty of using it in the bath wears off! Still, it's nice to have the option... and the noise is lessened when it's submerged in water.

You do your own underarms???
I mainly use mine to do above the knee (especially those gross dark hairs on the back of my thighs) if I know I'll be wearing a short-ish skirt.
I use a razor below the knee and if I'm going on holidays, I'll go to beauty therapist to have upper leg & bikini line done.
For the handiness of simply whipping it out on the morning that you fancy wearing a summer skirt, I think it's useful. And the discomfort/stinging/pain isn't so bad when you're inflicting it upon yourself.

Yeah it was killer at first but it hardly hurts at all now! Its just slightly annoying that I cant manage to get all the hairs in one go so need to break out the wax if Im heading out and wearing something sleeveless!! My underarm hair grows super quick and always had really dark shadows so I wanted to try something different to shaving.

Should really persevere with the legs but since my hairs are blonde there its not such an issue!

Yep but i prefer to use it dry. Great to have the option tho. :D

Epilators are great for "wink wink" sensitive areas if you have the guts to try it. SUPER EFFECTIVE!!!:P

It's the best thing for underarms and bikini line. It barely hurts if you do it straight after a shower.

I don't like it for legs, it's a bit sore and it doesn't get the fine hairs.

I've tried the bikini line three times and the agony - unbelieveable (I find waxing shockingly painful also). But no pain on the legs usually. It's strange how people experience it differently!
