could someone tell the advantage of having the hcap cert, have a deer licence and have a few thousand acres of permission, iam asking this because i would like to know what it would mean to me, iam shooting and hunting 30 odd years so mabey iam asking a foolish question, but a mate of mine who just drove away from me and is shooting deer over 20year never even heard of it, that made me feel a bit better, thanks,

To date only Required on COILLTE land, however potentially in future may be required for the rest of us.

In my opinion there is absolutely no advantage of the HCAP except to satisy some civil servants when you want to hunt on Coilte land.

If you want to do a useful informative course do the DSC Level 1 up the North, 10 times better than the HCAP !! Alas if you want to shoot on Coilte ground and are a resident of the state they will not accept the DSC level 1, HCAP it is for you mate :D

i eas onely asking, iam going to do it next march or may anyway just to have it, thanks tack for the answer, not going to make a great differance to me so, i shoot most of my deer on stubble around forest where i have permission, not realy one for the mountain climbing witch i have a good bit of permissions, i onely shoot for myself and family, the few will do me, as an old guy once said to me, the work onely begins when you pull the trigger,

But only if you want to add Coillte land to your few thousand acres of permissions. You could probably give the course so I wouldnt worry about it!!!
