Hard to tell at this early stage, but there seems to be a reasonable inter-model consensus that August may finish on a high note:

Latest ECMWF run at 168hrs: (middle of next week)

Forecast for an upper ridge to move to the east of us which could allow some reasonable late summer weather to be drawn up over Ireland from the south or south east with temperatures reaching 20+, by day (contingent on cloud cover)

Really nothing more than a hopecast at this very delicate and early stage but any little hint of something nicer weatherwise than what we suffered for the entire summer season might be something to look forward too.

Latest run does not seem that far removed from the ensemble mean which might be a good sign:

12z run also suggests that it will be nothing more than a transitory ridge; but who knows, it has to build first!

Yep - the well established pattern of decent Septembers following poor Augusts looks set to kick in again this year:)

PS: ECM looks particularly good this morning for next week:D

Still looks Ok for the last days of August into the opening days of September on the models tonight:

a favourable pattern with the possiblity of some haze being drawn in from the near continent. 850's still don't look that spectacular though but should be some reasonable daytime suface heating should the sun peak out long enough. While sea fog could be a problem on exposed coasts all in all a very pleasant set up whether in be sunny or nay.

if memory serves me correctly deep, you love that type weather? i.e. hazy days as a result of continental airstream?

It would be nice to get a heatwave to end the summer, anything better than this warm one minute cold another minute crack, actually had a sleet/ hailshower on Tuesday here in Donegal.

temps look like being around the 16-20C range during the following week which seems low for such sunny conditions and a southerly wind, temps in the UK not much better either.

Right lads, apologies for intruding but my bro is thinking of going saving hay tomorrow as their are inconsistent reports of showers possibly in the area (west kerry), any chance ye could give an outline on the next two days? Best guess ;)

    Hi Lu

Any precipitation will not amount to much i.e. light drizzle. This is most likely, should it occur in west kerry, up to lunctime tomorrow. However, it is looking like it will remain largely dry in west kerry, although somewhat more overcast than the rest of the country. Thursday looks drier and warmer again

I would tell your bro to Bale em Bale em Hay Hay
