I'm sure this has been asked before but my wife is hoovering around me (she made me coffee tho, nice one),my dogs are bouncing around expecting a walk and the only related thread I found doesn't really answer this.
Dublin is covered by both DFB and HSE ambulances. Is there any geographic divide between services? Is Townsend Street the only Control Room for both services? If so,is that one room for two services or one service tasking both DFB and HSE crews?
And without getting the whole DFB v HSE debate started can anyone explain how calls are tasked? If anyone is wary of discussing this on an open forum for fear of media or whatever,PM me and I'll try try my best to establish my bona fides.

Dublin City is covered primarily by the DFB. If the NAS have an unused resource it could be dispatched to cover the call. Townsend Street is the only control room for Dublin & utilises both DFB & HSE Controllers.

This is only a limited answer to your query as A) I don't work the area & more importantly B) don't want to get involved in a mud slinging match between ourselves & colleagues who work in the DFB. All I will say is the situation in Dublin is quiet unique & the people are lucky to have so many trained paramedics either NAS or DFB to treat them.

You're correct...this has been answered here before, brief answer is closest resource is normally dispatched.

These threads normally turn in to a DFB v HSE mud-slinging match as buzzman said. Let's hope that's not the case with this one.

Whenever I rang for an Ambulance in Dublin, one turned up.

Quality of service was excellent. As a user I never cared who turned up.

I got milk and sugar,no biccies tho, can't have everything. Right,Dublin is covered by DFB and HSE. Just to be very specific, are there any areas covered just by HSE or DFB? Outer limits of the city? Areas that would have been rural but have now been developed? Just to be very clear on this,I'm not trying to get a load of navy shirts and white shirts flinging insults,I've worked along side both services and couldn't fault their members. (Well I could, every large group has some tossers, but professionally speaking).

the only place i can imagine is the dunlaorighe area, the dfb station there has no ambulance and the hse have big enough base close by in loughlinstown.

if one was to break down areas cover by fire stations it would give you an idea what areas are covered by what. for example:
northstrand would cover northstrand from amien st all the way to howth and up to the swords road, now there is no specific HSE base in the district BUT it can be drawn in from say swords or james base. but if there was a particular busy period one dfb district would back up the neighbouring district so in short whatever the district cover of any fire station would cover that area with an ambulance. the same goes for around the city centre, primarily it would be the two ambulance from HQ and one from james st eras base, but then again either one of them could be sent to tallaght to respond to a multi patient RTA and they would be considered the closest resource.
but either way there would be 5 paramedics sent to an incident in their area on a fire truck even if there was no ambulance resources available..... now thats another debate for another day & thread, some thing that i'd have to put on my angry hat on for... not gonna get into it now...

It USED to be that the DFB was solely Dublin Corporation and they covered that area. With the evolving and ever growing Dublin the DFb will answer a call anywhere they are tasked, even helping out other HSE areas not just the East. Have seen a DFB amb in Dunshauglin and Ashbourne before.

Anyhow the HSE do cover from Blackrock out south primarily. Otherwise the other stations are a mix of what service you get in Swords, Tallaght or James St area.

    Why do you ask Petrov?
