Irish public broadcaster RTÉ has published details of its worldwide coverage of the All Ireland Finals on 4 and 18 September 2010:

Britain: Across most of Britain, listeners can receive coverage on Long Wave 252 kHz. In addition RTÉ Radio 1 is available on the UK free to air satellite platform Freesat on channel 750.

Worldwide: Across the world, the match commentaries will be available online at www.rte.ie/radio1.

Shortwave to Africa: In Africa, where many Irish people live and work, often in relative isolation with poor communications, RTÉ is providing special transmissions on shortwave radio:
To South Africa: 1200-1600 UTC on 7265 kHz
To East Africa: 1200-1400 UTC on 15400kHz, 1400-1600 on 11695 kHz
To West Africa: 1330-1400 on 15445 kHz, 1400-1530 on 11805 kHz

Satellite Radio: Across the world, the match commentaries will be available on satellite radios on WRN2, channel 328.

Intelsat Service: For the first time, RTÉ Radio is providing a dedicated satellite radio feed of the finals. Full coverage from 1200-1600 UTC Irish time will be available on Intelsat (C Band) Channel 10: GAA Special. The coverage of the service is extensive - from western Africa over to Australia, as well as throughout most of Europe and Asia.

Doesn't specify which Intelsat satellite or transmission parameters.

    [edit]
It isn't their first time providing the satellite feed. They did the same last year apparently.
    Intelsat Service:
RTÉ Radio is providing a dedicated satellite radio feed of the final. Full coverage from 2pm to 6pm Irish time will be available on Intelsat (C Band) Channel 10: GAA Special. (at 68.5 degrees east, 3808 MHz, Symbol Rate 10340) The coverage of the service is extensive - from western Africa over to Australia, as well as throughout most of Europe and Asia.

Is RTE Radio 1 not available on Sky Digital in UK as well as Freesat?

Yes, and RTE 2, Lyric and RTE1 extra. But not the new Digital Stations. They are unlikely to join Freesat or Sky.

The shortwave transmitters are in Meyerton South Africa if anyone wants to try on Sunday just out of curiosity. I know they are beamed to Africa but I checked a couple of times during the Hurling Final and there was a weak but fully readable signal on 15400 kHz, nothing on the other frequencies. I got a QSL card a few years back from RTE for one of these All Ireland transmissions.

I wonder what a listener in Japan or Russia or where ever would make of Micheal O'Muircheartaigh if they happened on the transmission.

Just read it will be Michael's last commentary after many years. Well done and well deserved retirement.

I read somewhere (possibly on here) that he will be doing the international rules series also.
