I've got a business idea. Nothing more than that at present, but just looking for bits of info for now.

It's based mainly around developing a game that you log in and play online. Pretty common these days but there's more to it as well. The game wouldnt necessarily have to be amazing in terms of graphics (could be quite basic really) but would need to be reasonably good in terms of the engine and intelligence of characters in the game.

Has anyone any experience in this area or could anyone offer any advice on where you would begin to research this kind of thing?

From a business sense, the iPhone App store is your best bet. Really easy to do the accounting end of things and selling, installing and distribution is taken care off. After that, perhaps FaceBook. The other advantage is you can learn as you go, offer upgrades and develop the game quickly.

As a business however it would be extremely hard to make it pay for various reasons. Chief amoungst which is cost of development, distribution and advertising.

Trinity have a Master's degree in computer games. You could put up a poster looking to recruit a student. Offer €100 for a day-long wide-ranging chat and you'll get lots of responses.
