    This Laptop is for a course I will be starting next month its Digital Media / Multimedia I want to get your opinion on this laptop also want to use it for gaming aswel my price limit is 1000 give or take.

    you should probably put this on the laptops board, your doing multimedia? any gaming etc. im selling this if your interested.

    The HD5470 is a poor card for gaming.

    You should be looking at Radeon HD 5650 / Nvidia GT 335M or up.

    That screen is pretty meh for what you are paying, especially if you are doing multimedia.
    Better of with a 7200rpm HDD but tbh its the easiest thing to replace.

    Have a look at the HP envy range.

    I got one of these for my son for college, it arrived to-day and looks like a bundle of trouble already. It crashes if you play any video like RTE Live player or Youtube with a black screen of death, and has to be hard re-booted to get going again. Looks like video card issues. I then downloaded all the updates, and that made no difference, it cost just under 1k, I wouldnt recommend.
    Here is the spec, guess it will have to go back, not looking forward to all the hassle with overseas call centre etc.
