Interview: Teach a topic for 10 mins?

I have an interview coming up tomorrow for a physics job and they have told me that after the interview they want me to teach a topic for ~ 10 mins on any topic to the principal and vice principal so that they can get a sense of my 'teaching style'.

How would one approach this? Usually I would introduce a topic to any class by asking the students questions on their initial/previous understanding of the topic and move on from there.

Do I pretend the principal & vice are students or do I show them how I would teach it .i.e explain the lesson plan to them?

Any other tips I would be grateful thanks :)

Well if they said they want you to "teach" then I would assume that they are your students. You wouldn't show a lesson plan to students but you might say what you intend to cover in the 10 mins.

    Hi JD3112

I would treat it as a ten minute lesson to students, I would use learning objectives and even have them written on a sheet to bring in with you and display. I would bring in resources or handouts to help you with your delivery. Treat it as if someone was coming into one of your classes for ten minutes and knock their socks off!

Best of luck, let us know how you get on!

This is very common in some other countries. I was waiting for it to arrive here.

In the school I taught in in India it was teach a class to the principal and fellow teachers! It was as if they were students. Good luck!
