    This is a very 'how long is a piece of string' thing but i am trying to get a feel for what the average monthly repayments people have are.

    Would 800 a month be a considered low and 1500 be considered high for example?

    Ì would think that it would be more or less the following:

    500 : Very low
    700-800 : Low
    1200-1500: Average
    1500-2000: High
    >2000: Very High

    But as you said, how long is a piece of string....

    Apples and oranges. Not sure what the context of your question is.
    It's all about affordability I guess. I'd agree with Mike's analysis given what the 'average' house price was over the last decade.

    It's a pointless exercise because you also have to take into consideration how many years the mortgage is over.
