Nikon D3000 & 18-55 VR Lens €355 dixons, Dublin Airport

I was going to pick one of these up before I went on holidays - cheapest I could find it in dublin was €479

I was planning to buy it while I was away, but saw it in Dixons in the Duty Free for €355 (non-Duty Free Price as I was flying within the EU)

They also had the D5000 kit reduced to about 550 - this is the one I should have got. there were discounted lenses there too.

To be honest, I was going to get a compact until I saw the price of the D3000

The 5000 is the better camera, but the 3000 is still a very good camera (it could be argued that the lens you use with it is more important and they will both take the same lenses)

The D3000 is probably the best choice if you want to set it to Auto and point and shoot.

The D5000 is better if you like to tweak things a lot.

Oh, the D3100 is out at the end of September and will be on a par/better than the 5000, but th elist price is 687 euro with the 18-55 VR lens.

Don't know, but this seems to be their number

Don't by any Nikon digital cameras/lenses in the US - warranty is only valid over there. Film cameras/lenses and flashes are international though

No problem.

Worth getting a flash though. A mate brought me a SB400 from the US (just got it this morning). Comes with an International warranty. US price was $131 inc tax = 103 euro. Irish price is about 180 euro :eek: I did all the legwork online and just sent him a google map to the cheapest store near where he was staying.

Post up the D5000 price if you get through to Dixons.

If thats with the 18-55 VR then it's a steal. 699 in the camera centre.

Thats a good price..I paid €430 for D3000/18-55VR including shipping from Pixmania last Christmas. Nice camera for a beginner, no complaints.

Yeah, I got stung with that.
Very very happy with my D5000 (Jan2010), bought a 18-135mm lens to replace the kit lens (I fecked the motor putting on a filter to protect it - gutted, irony).

That's what I would have thought....I assume this is one voucher per transaction and not €10 off for every €50 you spend, i.e. if you spend €500 you don't get €50 off?

Picked up the D5000 in the airport about a month ago for €505. Was in the airport again last week and the price was up to 550

The kit for I bought came with an 18-55 VR lens, an extra battery (ie 2) and a remote control. I presume the €550 kit is the same in which case its a fantastic bargain.

As far as i know, Dixons at the airport only have one price, regardless of destination . .

I picked up the d5000 for the wife off Amazon, its an amazing piece of kit! It set me back around €600, including a 8gb mem card, spare battery and a photography book!

We were in Kilkenny Castle at the weekend and wow are the photos impressive!
