Hey guys I'm starting Nui galway this year and I'm hoping to share with my friend so we'll be getting a twin room.......Have been looking at these two places and I'm just hoping to hear from people who have actually stayed in these places. I've seen an old thread on dunaras but i'd appreciate more reviews please. Oh and the distance from a college isn't an issue as I'll have my car. Totally honesty please. :)Thanks in advance :D

    Hi:)!

I lived in Centepoint last year and if distance isn't an issue then its the best student accommodation in Galway! The apartments are decent sized, and I stayed in a twin room, which are very reasonably sized and stll retain privacy! If you're with your friend anyway that mightn't be that big of a deal to you!
Its a very sociable spot, if you try at all, all you need to do is be friendly and you'll have friends hangimg in your window in no time :)!

I never had many dealings with management, but when I did they were very polite and helpful. When we moved in our kettle didn't work, as soon as I reported it we got a working one, no delay like!

Ther's a handy little shop around the corner, a spar or something but it closes about 7 I think, and then Dunnes Terryland is a ten min walk, so no distance in a car!

I have nothing bad to say about the place really, i was impressed with the high quality of them, for student apartments like! I'd strongly recommend Centrepoint!

I too lived in centrepoint this past year and am trying to figure out who reap-a-rat is, someone with no contact with management....must not be someone I know because I think everyone I know got a warning of some sort...

As long as there's no annoying prick who reports parties then you should be grand. We had one of those first semester last year. Had a few friends over for some Rock Band and had the window open for a few minutes and bam, security called, €26 fine.

Management were always good to me, but best not to break anything...like the lift...which broke about 4 or 5 times last year. Your best not to bring bouncy friends home with you.

There's no permanent security, just a crowd you ring up and they can take 10 minutes or they can take 2 hours, depending on various random factors.

One of the girls went around in the first week, knocked on everyone's door and said "Party outside tomorrow night at 10, bring drink" and boom, outdoor party. If you can get over the whole itlookslikeaprison thing it's really good for shindiggery.

The only negative with centrepoint is it's so far from college. Free parking, so a car would be handy. Get a good lock for your bike if you bring one though, a few went missing last year.

Ah its nicely laid out when you think about it, you meet more people when everyone has to pass through the same area! well nearly everyone!:D

Was it the rock band that gave it away? Or do I type like an old bastard?

Centrepoint, definitely. Both are a good distance away, but Dunaras is a bit further and in a dodgier area. Centrepoint apartments are lovely, too.
