Any thing to be aware of buying LPG Boiler Online

Im planning to switch from Oil to LPG at the home.
Id really rather buy online and have the choice of boiler and lower costs (in theory) but get a gas installer to connect it to the gas piping.

To make it as seamless as possible Id like a regular (ie not combi or system) boiler to use as a drop in replacement, situated in the garage. Ive seen Ravenheat HE Condensing boilers for £250 online, Regular boiler with above 92% efficiency, seems perfect.

For this to maintain cost efficiency, spending EUR700+ locally on a boiler is not an option.

Import costs and VAT and is it SEAI approved from a BER perspective.

    On the 'math'

Can you post the calculations that support the switch here please

    This may help

I know the agent for ravenheat in ireland quite well. PM me if you want to contact him personally.

B&Q also do them here. They are actually quite reasonable.

Just for your records....Ravenheat no longer do a standard boiler so to speak...

Unless of couse you mean the boiler that is like the potterton suprima but be careful as the extras add up on this boiler.

Dont forget the LPG conversion kit as most are supplied for nat gas.

Well Im talking EU importation here so no VAT or duty. Truely international shipping would be prohibitive on something this size and weight.
On the math, thats not my angle. My existing Oil boiler is ancient and came with the house. The burner is not even fitted to the boiler correctly and everything looks old and somewhat rusted. I could replace it with an new Condensing Oil boiler, but I just dont like using Oil as a home Fuel. Ultimately I want to move to an LPG CHP system, so this is a logical step in the right direction, assuming I dont invest too much in the parts.
I would also like the ability to refuel my own (personal use) gas tanks etc.

You can buy that boiler and install it but be careful, Ravenhea stopped selling system boilers 2 years ago. So parts are only supplied for so many years.

The advantage to this system boiler though is that it can be converted quite easy to a combi making it great for apartments.

Ensure it has a CE mark. It most probably does, but be sure.

May I ask why you are changing?

Well as above, I perfer gas over oil, need to change the Oil boiler anyhow, already use some LPG equipment, want to move to LPG CHP, no Gas mains available, bunch of small reasons really. The 2 gas providers (Flogas and Calor) also are giving rather large amounts of fuel free on initial sign up.

Whats the deal with converting from a Regular old style boiler to a System.. since they both use hot tanks, cant be that big a deal right?

A regular boiler does not come with an expansion vessel or a time clock (Generally) where as a system boiler does.

A regular boiler might have a cast iron heat exchanger where as a system boiler has a fabricated one.

The better boiler is actually the regular boiler as it can take more crap etc than the system boiler. The problem is ravenheat no longer do regular boilers so to speak...

They do system combi;s & high efficency boilers
