Anyone know if anything new is happening upstairs in the hub for next term? you know the place over the spar. i was passing through the hub lasst week and noticed the pool tables had been moved to outside the C&S office. i mean apart from the barber and that music room i think its hardly used for anything. the new su office doesnt mention anything about that whole side of the hub

That whole are is becoming offices or classrooms. I've heard both so I'm not sure which is true. The equipment room is being moved away from there.

I've heard classrooms for some school in DCU. I forget which one.

They say the equipment room is going to the Helix.

They say the equipment room is going to the Helix.

Wouldn't that make it really difficult to get things? Unless its going to be open longer hours

If the helix isnt open and stuff is needed that would mean either myself or one of the others would have to come in on a 4 hour call out to open the store room.. (~€50)

This move is very short sighted.. i can understand the suggestion as we do have an awful lot of space in the basement that isn't being utilised that is ideal for storage, which DCU are doing plenty of already, but this really should have been thought about a bit more.. In the long run this probably will extend our working hours to a permanent 7.30am to midnight during the week, with our current schedule that will put us at nearly 120 hours a week..

    Solution: Hire more staff.

So is the Helix getting money for renting out rooms for classes to be held in them?

For the equipment room storage you mean? Nope, not to my knowledge.. but i could be wrong..

@cy_rev.. yeah if only things in DCU were that easy..

Arse, I meant the Hub - if they convert for classes will they get money for that :/

Though surprised they wont have to pay the Helix for the space.

DCU own the hub since years ago, they can kick us filthy students out whenever they want.

There is nothing to do, ya just have to sit there and press a button, and get people to sign in, then lock up
