I would not touch it if you have a laptop the cpu in this one is rubish if you ask me you could probaly upgrade your own and it would be better then this pending on the spec of your own the hard drive and ram are the easyist things to upgrade.

Unless its very cheap yes. Thats a single core @2.2ghz which is very low powered for a modern laptop. It might do you, but its worth spending a little more and getting a decent dual core. Also, there is no hope of gaming on that laptop, in case you were considering it.

What course are you doing and what other activities do you perform on your computer?

ah no sorry i never included that my current laptop battery holds no charge, and the AC adapter went so i bought a replacement on ebay and now thats going. so whenever the laptop moves it switches off. :)

    Anythings better.

How do you mean the CPU is bad?

Office 07/10 is a bit bulkier than previous versions, but its still low end stuff.

The CPU is the brains of the computer, and its the main consideration when buying one. That Celeron 900 was standard 3 years ago, its dead in the water now.

This is almost twice as fast, has a 250GB HDD instead of 160GB and better graphics.

that laptop is pretty tripe. As mentioned the processor is slow. Also the memory is very low. Try get closer to 3 or 4 GB when running Windows 7 to future proof the laptop a bit.

Thanks. To be honest I never took into consideration the changing software, as I'm currently running XP. The above laptop is priced at 380 so I imagine for say another 100 more expensive or so would be a safer bet then.

May ask what sort of processor should I be looking for?

    An Athalon X2 or a Core 2Duo, there's no need for i3.

Either should be clocked at 2.00Ghz or more.
