Problem With Dryer (I Think)

    As per title....

Dryer has been on for the past hour. I notice serious condensation on the windows in the kitchen (main window, door and velux).

I also notice condensation on the walls of the utility room where the dryer is located. Also, the hygrometer in the hall is up about 10% to 58%rel on normal - it usually hovers around 45 - 50%.

I've opened all windows and the problem has sorted - for now - but that's curing the symptom rather than the disease.

I'm in no doubt that the dryer is the cause and my questions are.....

Why has this happened all of a sudden? Do I have a problem with my dryer? Why would this happen 'overnight'?

The dryer is vented through a hole in the wall and on the exterior wall I can feel heat but little or no draught. So I'm thinking that the vent for the dryer is blocked. It's too late in the night to start pulling out the dryer.

Is it possible that the vent is blocked? I'll pull the dryer out tomorrow evening and check behind it but if anyone can offer any advice in advance, I'd appreciate it.

Yes its possible for fluff to get caught in the vent. Its also possible that where the dryer hose meets the machine you have failed to clean the fluff out of this vent.

The fluff filter is cleaned almost every time - it's located at the front of the drum. But I am unsure as to what is at the rear of the dryer. I'll pull it out tomorrow and see if there is any blockage at the back.

I stopped the dryer mid-cycle and I'll bet that Mrs crosstownk overloaded it as it was stuffed to the gills. Maybe that was somewhat to blame.

I dont doubt you. I just think it might be the filter at the end of the hose where it meets the maching.

    Best of luck

I pulled out the dryer today and discovered that the vent hose is torn. I doubt it's repairable as any adhesive would eventually be rendered useless by the damp air from the dryer.

Is this a specific part or is there 'one size fits all' option available? Where would I get such an item?

I also notice that the exterior vent has lots of fluff in it so I'll take it off the wall and clean it out too.

EDIT: Sorted got the bit in the local hardware.
