after much deliberation(and wasting some boardsie's time) i have decided to get a 06/07 punto 1.4 16v. has anyone got one of these or a grande punto in general? i have a mk2 punto already and i adore it. NEVER lets me down. but i just fancy a bit more pull and to spend some of my saved money. if ye could let me know your experiences with them please do.

I hired one in Sicily for a week. Wanted to hate it, ended up loving it. Super car, plenty of go if you work the engine hard, and very comfortable on a longer journey.

There's no faster car on earth than a hire car :)

Punto is a nice little car, if you like the one you have then you'll love the Grande. On the other hand I have a Punto Evo for test next week :D

Am thinking of buying a Punto 1.4 16V myself. They're a lovely car alright and I reckon they'll be good on fuel. The Grande's in general are good cars and have come a long way on the reliability front. I would avoid the 1.2 as it carries over the 8v engine from the older model (admittedly with a few more bhp) but the Grande is heavier than the Mk2 and it reflects in performance. I too have a Mk2 and I think it is a brilliant little car. And that's why I'd be looking at a Grande myself.

I was thinking of getting a 1.3 diesel, but speaking to lads I know in the motor trade in the UK, I've been well warned off that engine. There's nothing negative about them in Fiats, but that same engine is installed in GM Opels / Vauxhalls and is giving piles of expensive trouble in those machines.
