Hi, I recently bought a 2nd hand iphone 3g ( my old one was stolen) and it seems to be very slow loading some stuff. I have seen on some threads, IOS4 loaded onto the iphone might make it slow.

How do I check what version of IOS is on it?
And where can i find out what the differences are between them?

    Thanks

And hang on in there a while as the lagging on ios4 looks like it's going to be addressed for the 3G.

Thanks Guys! It is IOS4 on my phone. I'll hang on and see if the fix comes out.
    Thanks again.

My 3G was very sluggish on iOS4, but when I got the iPhone4, I did a factory restore on the 3G and it was much faster than it had been. A lot of people are pointing fingers at the search - which would make sense if you have 2 years worth of SMS and email on the device.

Turn off Spotlight Search, you will see significant improvement
Settings -> General -> Home Button -> Spotlight Search, turn search indexing off for as many items as possible.
