Dell Inspiron 6400 9 cell Battery?

    Battery on Dell Inspiron 6400 Battery has stopped charging? Where can an inexpensive replacement?

    Dell site is quoting over €140.

    It may not be the battery.
    Dells have a nasty little problem of not charging at all.....
    They will run off a power outlet the battery might be perfectly fine but it just won't charge. The power management circuit on the mother board stops working properly and doesn't allow the battery to charge.

    My advice to you would be the following
    1. Check with a different power adapter to see if that is the problem
    2. Before shelling out for a battery find someone with the same laptop and plug their battery in and see if it charges.

    If both of the above don't work then it's the motherboard and you're sc***ed.
    If a friends battery works then you know you can get a new battery ditto for the charger.
