Saw this car for the wife online the seller told me it is an import from Taiwan. Nice high spec car with very low mileage. Any thoughts on these imports versus local car? Is mileage to good to be true?

    Taiwan only has LHD cars.

They had RHD cars before 1946 then it went to Chinese control.

IMO its probably an ex-Singapore car

Why do people bother importing cars from halfway round the world that are readily available here:confused:

If it has such low mileage and is well looked after , why no mention of a service history?

He seems to be selling cars from his house. He has a few listed on Donedeal.

Yes, seller seems to be a dealer alright.

OP, ask the seller what warranty is he providing ;);) as he is clearly a dealer!. If he says he's not, just list these cars he recently sold/selling:

    I count around 10 cars

He told me he sells a few cars from the house. My concern is with buying an import versus a local car. That, and the mileage is making me wary.

It's an import from Taiwan/Singapore with low mileage with a dodgy background.

Imagine your friend bought this car and it was a sh!tebox and fell apart/cost him lots of money from a (probable) illegal dealer selling from his house. You'd think he was a fool right!?

Tell me whats good or right about this scenario? I think you'll answer you're own question really.

And it is overpriced. I sold a '00 focus nearly 3 years ago for €4000 that was Irish, fsh, nothing dodgy about it. It's not such a great price really.

    Keep looking.

About 3-4 years ago there was a company on the Turnpike Road called TVD who were importing these kind of cars for a short while. Nearly all of them had leather, auto and even fully electric seats in the case of larger cars like E-Classes and 5 Series.
If it has such low mileage and is well looked after , why no mention of a service history?

That's what I'm sceptical over. I'm not going making accusations, but as mentioned above the car has obviously been in Ireland for a few years and 33k miles seems far too low for its age and background, so I suggest that if there is no trace of service history then be in no doubt that it's clocked.
