That time of year again which I love. The senior club championship resumes after its 3 month hiatus. Some interesting pairings for the 2nd round of the competition.

Thursdays games seem to be the pick of the fixtures with 2008 All Ireland champions St Vincents taking on 2009 Dublin Finalist runner ups St Judes.Thats followed later by St Sylvesters taking on St Oliver Plunkett/Eoghan Ruadh.

Can Eoghan O Gara and co also topple UCD in Kiltipper Road as Templeogue Synge Street look to take a huge scalp?Ballyboden St Enda's who won the 2010 Dublin Championship square off against O Tooles in St Margarets.

Friday sees another double header in Parnell Park as St Peregrines take on locals Whitehall Colmcilles and Ballymun Kickhams look to recover from their heartbreaking final minute loss to St Brigids as they face Erins Isle.

Saturday sees 2009 All Ireland Club Champions Kilmacud Crokes come up against a young St Maurs side.

A lot is at stake. The winners group sees the winners of these fixtures progress to round 4 while the losers of the winners group face the winners of the losers group. The losing teams from the losers group will enter the relegation championship.

Gonna try and make my way out to St Margarets after band stuff as ill already be mostly there. Expect Boden to win it but surprise results arent rare these days so nothing for granted!

It would also be interesting if you could let us know if Fennell lines out for O Tooles.Apparently his Dublin career is in jeopardy if he refuses to line out.Plus I'd like to hear how McAulay v Fennell goes.

I fully expect a Boden win here.Anything less would be a complete shock in my view.

I'll be in Parnell Park.We have a very tough draw against Judes and I for one can see us losing this tie.I would imagine it will be tight. Also SOPER to get the upper hand over Syls.

If i manage to find the ground ill let ya know. Im on google maps to get there from Ballymun hehe. Vinnies v Judes has to be the pick of em alright. With a different draw, you wouldnt be hugely surprised to see them both in the final so should be some game. As much as i hate to say it... to you (hehe) i think Vinnies will take them but will be a close one. Hard one to call but id say Vinnies by 2.

All depends on how our midfield and half back line do to be honest.Dominate that sector of the pitch and naturally players like Mossy,Connolly,Diamond won't be able to get their scores.Brendan McManoman is injured I believe so this could work in our favour but Kevin is well able to take goals.

You won't have far to travel.Just a bit up the N2 past the airport.

Ah yea, but no offense to Judes but if ya keep their few top players quiet they have little else. Keeping them quiet is the hassle tho. Should find St Margarets ok but i get lost going to the jax tbh! Could end up in Donegal ffs! hehe

St Vincents 2-14 St Judes 0-08

Too easy for St Vincents tonight.I missed the first 15 minutes of this game and when I arrived Vincents were 8 points up to no score.Mossy Quinn was star of the show here and St Judes had no answer to what seemed like a swarm midfield.

Dermot Connolly played well in patches and Kevin McManoman was ononymous.Vincents build up play was very good in contrast to Judes who slow handpassing was followed by short kicks into areas where they couldn't find a support player.

Don't think Vincents got out of second gear and the failure of Judes to show up may have made Vincents look better than they are.The winning margin could have even been more but for some bad shooting at times.

St Sylvester's 3-05 St Oliver Plunketts Eoghan Ruadh 1-12 (AET)

Game of the championship so far.Like the Dubs last Sunday,Sylvesters will be asking themselves how they lost this game. They were always in front or level in this game but Plunketts managed to force extra time and even then Sylvesters led for nearly all of this until Anthony Moyles and Gareth "Nesty" Smith kicked two very late points to put Plunketts in the lead for the first time 2 minutes before the end of extra time.

A few notes about this game.Bernard Brogan was very quiet on the scoring front.Whether it was a lack of support or his heart wasn't in it,he seemd to faze in and out of the game.Ross McConnell had a very poor game.It seems some lessons haven't been learned from Sunday. He nearly cost Plunketts this game with som terrible tackling and a lot of the time he lost the ball cleanly.

Jason Sherlock knows where his teammates are and was used effectively as a link man.He pumped a lot of clever ball into the full forward line but on so many occasions, his marker marked him out of the game when any 5-50 ball came into him.

Plunketts can count themselves lucky that Nesty was on form in place of Bernard. At half time it was 3-01 to 1-04 and Nesty had scored 1-03 of this while Bernard got a beauty into the church end.The game had a dramatic turn of events in the first half when Sylvesters got a goal in the first minute by switching the ball over with neat handpasses in the square.Sylvesters also converted a penalty and amazingly gifted Plunketts a penalty of their own 2 minutes later when a stray ball was picked up by the Syls goalkeeper. He could have left it bounce wide over the end line but he elected to collect it and Bernard put the pressure on the goalkeeper and was dragged down when he won it.

It was tit for that in the 2nd half but Alan Brogan really grew into the game with some surging runs down the middle. He scored about 3 points to bring Plunketts level.Aiden Relihan and Jude Sullivan were outstanding for Sylvesters but Darren Clarkes failure to convert 2 45-metre kicks cost them.

The game was quite physical and Relihan kept plugging away in extra time. The amount of turnovers was unreal and the crowd at Parnell Park was electric.Moyles chipped in with a lovely point from 40 metres out to put the teams level and with 2 minutes left,Nesty popped over a pressure free kick to put Plunketts in the lead for the first time.

Bernard Brogan will prob get Player of the year, yet the DCC fix a game for 4 days after these boys gave their all for the county on Sunday. It was a credit to them that they lined out at all tonight. It was a great win for Plunketts considering that they only took the lead for the first time with the winning score.

Perigines and Whitehall ended all square after extra time. Replay next Tuesday. Entertaining game, if quality not brilliant.

BALLYMUN KICKHAMS 0-21 Erins Isle 0-7

Very easy win for Mun over an injury depleted Isles. The Finglas men almost scored a couple of goals in the first ten minutes only to be twarted by good goolkeeping. However after that it was very pedestrian. Philly McMahon looked a class act at the back for Mun. Dean Rock came off the bench in the second half to score a host of good points. Good to see Paddy Christie coming off the bench for last ten minutes.

Will be interesting to see if they can keep it up and overcome O Tooles in Balgriffin this evening.O Tooles kept up with Ballyboden the other week so if the two teams maintain that form,it should be a good game.

Also,Fingallians are going to play St Sylvesters in Parnell Park.Think I will go to Balgriffin though but this could be a very good match if Fingallians put in a good display. Will be interesting to watch Paul Flynn's form.Sylvesters will have to be tight in midfield again and supply Eoin Bennis and Darren Clarke will good quality ball around the 20m line.

Ravens v Maurs should be a classic Fingal derby.

I will be posting updates from some of the Dublin SFC games today and tomorrow - Jerome Quinn on Facebook is probably the easiest way to get me. I'll be putting some video up as well on there and on the Hill 16 website. There's some stuff there already from recent games.

Cheers, got some good stuff again tonight. Crokes and Na Fianna both won, though only just. Bit of video from both to follow.

Yeah was at the Ballymun game, turgid stuff but that's what you expect. I was also at the double header on Saturday night in Parnell and I didn't see one goal from play in all three games. There's a short video report with action from all three games and clips of Senan Connell, Pat Burke and Paul Brogan, just gone up on the Hill 16 website.
