I'm not an atheist or an agnostic so I was wondering does that preclude me from posting on this forum?

No, as long as you don't mind debating views :)

    Hasn't stopped you yet!

    Fire away.

Of course not, quite a lot of the threads started here and the posts made here are done so by theists. Hopefully it's not a drive by posting though. It would be better if you stuck around to engage with peoples responses.

Everyone is encouraged to post here so long as one obeys the forum charter.

However if you come here arguing the case for god, do not expect to be handled with kid gloves. Be prepared for strident and often harsh retorts.

I'm not one for refusing to debate points, so I will stick around and debate with anyone who wants to. I'm expecting to have a logical discussion, if someone has a good reason to think I've made an illogical point then I'll consider what they've said and reply. This won't be a fleeting once off posting on my part.

Watch out for the thread, make sure you get your knuckles well cracked, this is going to be a pretty envolved argument.

You gonna use the phrases "empiricism isn't everything" or "personal knowlege of God"? If so I might just sit this one out. I don't have all that much hair left to tear out at this point.

I ought to point out to the OP that atheists tend to be of a scientific and naturalist persuasion i.e. we think in terms of evidence and the universe as it is, not how anyone might wish it to be. If you want to make any kind of theological argument for the existence of your god, such as Anselm's Ontological or some version of the Anthropic principle, be aware that we've dealt with all that stuff before. Likewise for anything relating to Intelligent Design e.g. the argument that a half-evolved eye is useless, or bacterial flagellae, etc.

I would also caution the OP against wordplay, or stretched logic that leads far away from reality: if you set up a contest between logic and reality, reality wins every time, because it's real. :p

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

I'm gonna go ahead and score the first petty-point by noting that envolved is not a word, use spelling please :pac:

Well look, we all think he's going to be wrong in some way, and we could post all day trying to preempt his arguments. So lets just let him start his thread and see where he's gonna go with this.

Well, I'm tired of threads like these devolving in to pages and pages of people talking past each other, with the theists going "God has to be true, because I said so", and not actually dealing with the questions presented to them. Or quoting scriptures (directly or indirectly), because that's a sure-fire way to convince atheists of the truth of said scriptures. I hope the OP is aware that while we might not have "seen it all", we have seem a lot here. If there's something genuinely new, I'm all ears eyes.
