Triax Magic Eye - again

Back in November 09 there was thread on this which started -

"I have triax magic eye set up so I could watch sky on a second tele but recently the light has gone out on it and it has stopped working. Because I've had it for about 3 years I figured its probably knackered so bought a new one. But same problem no light is coming on to indicate thats its on and the remote won't work. I don't think its the cable thats the problem connecting the tele to the wall because sky is still showing on the tele I just can't change channels from this room! Any suggestions? "

I have one and it has recently stopped working, i.e. the remote isn't working on the second tv, but working on the first. The Triax 'box' light isn't on at the antenna input on the second tv but when I tried the Triax 'box' directly in the rfc 2 outlet of the satt box the light came on. OK, I thought, cabling problem, so I re-tightened etc. the coax plugs on both ends and still no remote on the second tv. I don't know where to start on the cable, and since the picture is working fine on the second set, but the remote is not I am wondering what else might be wrong. I tried turning the satt box off and on, as suggest in the '09 thread but no luck, any other ideas?

How many magic eyes are you running, is it 2.

If so I'd advise that you use a link amplifier. I had the same problem recently and the link amp sorted it out.

Might not be the answer to your problem but that's what worked for me.

Well if it lights up when you plug it in to Rf2 but not at remote location it HAS to be your connections somewhere. If you have a multimeter check any joints on the cable to see where the 9v current Is lost. Probaly poor f connections , coax joiner in attic, or wallplate. If you are using a wallplate take it off the wall and check the back.

As Rippy said, and i'd always in cases like this, remove cable from back of box then snip off and re do if possible all connections along the length of the run.
Remember when you re connect to box to go back into installers menu and toggle the rf power supply on-off-on and save.
Some boxes i've found will switch off the rf 2 power if a slight short is detected, when removing/inserting a cable.

Sorry, it may be a bit confused - I have one, the 'usual' arrangement, an output from the rf2 socket on the satt box to the antenna input on the second tv with the Triax as the last link in that chain, providing the 'eye' for the remote.

Thanks for the other replies, I was trying to avoid srambling around but....

    Bye, Barry

Recheck and redo all connections, then when everything is in place, unplug the box for 2 minutes and then plug it back in. That will sometimes sort it out...

OK, all back in action. Remade the conection at the satt box end and had it disconnected while doing it. I also followed the advice above and switched the rf off and on. The triax light came on at the slave tv end but I had to switch off the box and switch it on (with the remote) before it worked.

    Thanks for all the help.

    Bye, Barry
