The Naas routes are fine, even in the morning, lunch time etc the traffic keeps moving. Only thing I can really say about Naas is the amount of hill starts in it lol

If you like I can pm you the name of an instructor who covers Naas and will take you on the test routes and do pre-tests with you.

I passed in Naas, friends have passed in Naas .... others have failed but generally because they never got one or two professional lessons before the test and got marks on stupid things that an instrutor could have warned them not to do.

Also arrive a bit early to the test centre 15-20min should we say, parking can be very hard to get at around the test centre so if your early you'll have no prob gettin a space, cos you'll have that extra time to wait for a car to move off or one of the driving school cars to leave.

The parking outside the center can be a tiny bit awkward. The spaces are directly beside a reasonably busy road. When you get there make sure you reverse in so that when the test starts you are going forward out onto the road. When you get back at the end of the test drive forwards into the parking space so that you're not trying to reverse park and blocking the road.

And you have to reverse up hill into the spaces so you'll be doing a down hill start.

A lot of people I met that applied for the test in Naas didn't even know where the test centre was until a week before their test and then cursed the parking situation.

cheers guys. have a good instructor at the minute thanks for the offer though! Is there any procedure for the downhill start or is it basically just go slow.
The parking situation is very dodgy I must say

A downhill start is much the same as a start on the flat - try not let the car roll down in neutral though, just drive normally as you would if it was flat. You could even use the handbrake to stop it from rolling down in neutral, although often for downhill starts the footbrake is enough.

For moving off down hill find bitting point in 1st gear and when moving off use footbrake

The down hill start is done by releasing the brake first, then the clutch. You are in first and as the norm you can't coast in first so don't worry about that. If it is hard to see, make sure you move down so that you can see.
Than move off as normal when clear.

    Hi,

Re down hill start. If you have to manoeuvre out of a tight situation then move off as normal (1st gear etc)

However, if you are unobstructed, then there is no need for using the power of 1st gear.

    Correct sequence.

Select 2nd gear, even 3rd if steep hill
Right foot on foot brake (and brake)
Release handbrake, left hand back on wheel
    Find holding point,
Check. front of car, interior mirror, right mirror, blind spot, indicate, look to front and take right foot off brake and move to gas.
    Let clutch smoothly, fully up

OP in Naas all the above will not apply when moving away from the test centre. It only applies moving away (down hill) on the straight.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the hill start question was based on the Test centre in Naas.

    Hi,
Smart forum, does not send a notification when a person on your ignore list posts a reply.

    I do not know Naas.

    Hence my reply

The remainder of my reply is just a carry-over from my attitude in instructing.

That you teach a person to drive so that they can deal with any situation they are likely to meet in a lifetime of driving, not just how to manoeuvre outside a specific test center.

As explained the question is in relation to the hill outside the Naas test centre. My comments are directed at the issue of the parking outside the test centre and not you or overall teaching.
