My Friend bought a P90 from Red Wolf and it went through fine, he has a firearms license though but the weapon wasn't seized so..You could ask customs and excise themselves they will be able to tell you what is and is not allowed.

Once it is firing below 1J with a .2g BB it will not be destroyed, it may however get sent for ballistics testing (to make sure its firing below 1J).

And airsoft guns (below 1J) are not firearms, owning a firearms license would not make a blind bit of difference.

Well I'm buying a new Masada so chances are it will be over limit.

just drop them an email, the pts magpul uses a quick changed spring so they will be able to downgrade if needed without issue

If you're buying the PTS Masada it'll probably be firing at 1.2j or close to it. The m90 spring I stuck in mine took it down to 330 fps, which is just over - but just over is still over as far as customs would be concerned I reckon.
They'd need to take a loop off the spring to get it under the joule for Ireland, or else use a shorter spring (I'm not sure - is there a m80 spring?)...

If you want to buy a specific AEG from a Far East store why not ask one of our retailers to get it in for you, I know GoTac have a relationship with RedWolf and Eirsoft work with eHobbyAsia and I'm sure other shops have similar connections. Going through an Irish vendor means it probably won't be seized by customs, the gun will be properly downgraded, you will have local warranty/support plus you are helping Irish retailers stay in business in these strained times. Yes, you probably will pay a little more if you buy through an Irish retailer, but probably not as much as you think, and in my view it is worth it becuase they take all the hassle of dealing with shipping/customs off your hands.

    Just remember lads...

Don't get over excited when you see Hong Kong prices. The calculation for the LANDED PRICE which is the actual cost can be taken as the following...

    Retail Price - EG. $450
    €uro exchange of say 1.26 - €357
    Carriage of €45 - €402
    Customs of 3.5% - €416
    VAT at 21% - €503

This wont be far off the Irish retailers actual selling prices

    As said above...
    • It won't be seized by customs
    • It will be properly downgraded
    • You will have local warranty/support

Completely agree Mark - which is why I don't go through overseas retailers - always local.

Im going to play it safe and just buy it from TNT Quality airsoft in Carlow,it was probably my most favorite airsoft store i have been in and i rather pay 549 for it than pay 503 or whatever and have the gun possibly seized and destroyed

That, sir, is the correct answer!

    I've bought from Redwolf before.

They are excellent and very helpful customer support is great and will offer downgrades to under 1j. Love the website visit it every few days and keep an eye on the videos.

Only thing was the shipping cost for a heavy rifle
was Absoutly SHOCKINGLY CRAZY CRAZY HIGH.
I dont remember what I paid at the time for my Star- AW338 which was heavy but I remember being disgusted at the shipping price.

One thing that pee'd me off big time though was when I first ordered from them it spooked Visa and they cancelled my credit card even after I rang them up and said the purchase was ok, which really pissed me off.

Nowadays though I am more than willing to pay the little bit extra to get an Irish retailer to get me something from
oversea's as I wont have to worry about it going over 1j,
wont have to worry about customs, and if an Irish shop sells you something at least they are more "local" to help fix any issues should their be any. And your supporting the Irish Airsoft shops even if they are making very little if any profit from a custom order.

An example of China costs vs Irish Costs I will
use lovely Gold Coloured Army MEU 1911 which is roughly 77 Euro from China.

Irish price 165 Euro from SE Airsoft Plus about 13 Euro Shipping.

So 77 Euro, add to that probably about 35-40 Euro for shipping, brings it upto 117 Euro, add the vat which is another 24-25 Euros, total now is 141 Euros. If it gets
stopped at customs for anything some places charge your a processing fee of about 15 Euros, bringing up the price to 155 Euros.

155 vs 165 Euros. Without counting the postal fee for the Irish retailer sending you your gun they are making a tenner profit!

Im not above questioning Irish Prices though!!!! some things that used to cost 160-170 Euros
Irish price are nowadays 50-60 Euros more expensive, but this can be due to lack of stock worldwide
for certain models. Still its annoying as you assume the price if Airsoft will go DOWN the more popular airsoft gets in Ireland and not UP.

Also when buying Irish check all stores.
I've seen differences up to 50 Euros more for the exact same product across the Irish stores.

I've a drawer load of M85s and M90s, that I ordered ages back, want to buy some? :P

I just logged into my Redwolf account to check what I paid in fees for my first order with them. $887.84 BEFORE! vat it cost me to buy a Star AW-338 Rifle.

    Waaayyy back in 2007....
I paid $55.00 USD to get a downgrade to under 1j
and I paid $178.34 USD for postage to Ireland
For one bolt action airsoft gun.
(and I was Hit with Vat when it arrived which included the
178.34 as part of the vat the ba*tards)

How long does delivery on an AEG take to Ireland if you selected courier mail?
