    Hi,
I'm just looking for some information on what portion of One Parent Family Payment is retained(if any) when one is participating in a FAS training course?
If there is any entitlement retained, what way is it broken down?
Is it full training payment and reduced OPFA?
Also i've already had form F103 filled out, do I need to contact Social welfare anymore? Or do FAS take care of that?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Just to add some more info.
I would basically be working/training a 9-5 with classroom training 1 day a week and attending college one evening a week.
Does anyone know what affect this would have on my OPFA?

    Hi

I'm thinking of doing a fas course and just wondering how u got on money wise. Did you get your opfa and fas money or was it just one payment

I'm not sure you would be eligible for a FAS training allowance, the criteria on their website says that its only available for new applicants on JA/JB, doesn't make any reference to OPFP.

    http://www.fas.ie/en/Allowances+and+Grants/Training+Allowances/default.htm

But I don't anything about this from personal experience, so best check out, perhaps wit the Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed (01 856 0088) or your local citizens information centre.

If you are receiving FAS training allowance of 188, your means from this is calculated by subtracting 146.50 from 188, then halving your answer. There is a slight disregard then again on that amount. So with means of 20.75 from FAS Allowance, your actual means deducted from your payment could be around 17.50 per week.
