Just wondering if RTE player will work for me when I'm away next week or do I have to be using an Irish IP address?

It will work but it is a stripped down version due to programming rights.

Really? I didn't think it would work at all outside of Ireland.

Remember kids.. just to pre-empt some obvious future suggestions, any information on bypassing geographical restrictions is against our charter!

I'm in South America at the moment and it works fine, but obviously some programmes are missing.

They have a version called RTÉ Player International.

Most programs are missing to be honest.

You will have access to the news, primetime, nationwide and other RTE produced stuff.

But no Eastenders, CSI, and other imports.

Anybody know if the RTE International Player allows you to watch live streams, i.e for GAA matches, etc?

When I was based up in Belfast I had awful trouble with it, for example i had to watch the bailout and budget coverage on the BBC. Then again it may have just been my lack of interwebz skillz.

I can't watch live stream matches abroad. Just some basic programs on Real Player. I have used Setanta Pay Per View to see matches I really couldn't miss.

Was able to watch Come West Along the Road on the Iplayer when I was studying in Edinburgh last year.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

RTÉ has live rights for the island of Ireland only.
