    No link there mate.

There has only been three clarifications this year which are available here and are pretty straightforward. No new laws for the new season.

I like the new offside from kicks law. Its a great way to open the game up. Likewise being able to take a quick throw backwards was another sensible idea.

The breakdown is where the main problem is. Its straight forward on paper but take the 'going off your feet' rule as an example. Alot of the time players are knocked off their feet or pulled over the ruck by the opposition. Also, releasing the tackled player is another grey area. If a player releases the tackled player very quickly the ref might not be able to see it. Maybe the players should be made to clap their hands for the sake of clarity or even put their hands on their head quickly etc

The scrum is another area that most people don't understand.

I noticed last year the refs pause before saying 'engage'. Maybe it would help players if they actually knew when the ref was going to say it. So the pauses between the word crouch, touch, pause, engage would be equal length.

Is there not a problem here though, that there is an advantage to moving first and getting the hit/shove on first? So one side starts moving a fraction of a second early. Then the other side has to start moving early to compete.
Then you get the "crouchtouchpauseengage" performances, where both sides are pretty much on their way to engagement before the ref actually says engage.

If the players know when the ref is going to say it, then it makes it easier for them to try this, which I don't think is a good thing.

Maybe it is just where I am playing, but the ref recites his cadence to the forwards before the match before taking any questions.

I thought engaging before the ref calls it was a technical?
