Need new Laptop!

    Hey,

Right my laptop just went on me last night. I'm not sure what happened, but I brought it up today to a comp shop and they said it's gone and offered me a new screen for 300 quid. He also offered me two laptops, one for 499 (Fujitsu Amilo Li3710) and the other 599 (Samsung R530).

Now I'm a total noob when it comes to these. Is there anything I can get cheaper that would be soild for college to browse online/msn/just basics really. My friend pointed me to dell saying they would be cheaper available there.

So any suggestions/links or any advice would be appreciated. Cheers!

Assuming it isn't a loose component within the laptop, unless you need to bring it around with you why not plug it into a desktop monitor and hook up keyboard / mouse via USB?

If it actually is the screen (as opposed to dead graphics chip etc.) then you should be able to pick one up cheaply enough on Ebay.

It's fairly old and a bit of a wreck lol. I thought it was the charger as I had to hold it up from the back to actually get it working but it stopped working yesterday. He tried the charger up there though and it worked for him. He also had a look at the battery. So I'm not sure what to do as I'll need to bring it to college with me.

I was looking at the dell site think I've seen a cheaper option already!

See harvey norman, they have centrino single core cpu,2gigram,dvdrw,wfi,15inch lcd laptops around 360euro.
    THEY are ok for casual,browsing,email,msn,youtube.
try AND GET toshiba or similar brand ,if theres one in that price range.
you could sell your laptop for parts on www.adverts.ie, plug it into a vga screen, lcd and delete your documents, info, personal files etc. Before you sell it.
