Finally got my dvb-t tuner for my azbox from Saortv today, get all the dtt stations from Knockmoyle perfectly and also from Mullaghanish on separate aerial but with pixelation, i get the 7 day epg from Mullaghanish tuned channels but not Knockmoyle?
Is Knockmoyle broadcasting the 7 day epg anyone? Maybe i need to delete the ch21 mullaghanish channels and retune ch52 knockmoyle to get epg on those ones?
    Regards

might have the wrong aerial for Knockmoyle and the right aerial for Mullaghanish.

The epg is part of the DVB stream and should be available nationwide.

Are the 2 aerials combined, if so I assume the tuner finds the Mullaghanish channels first and installs them. If you want the Knochmoyle installed first do a clean autoscan either starting the scan above Ch 21 or remove the aerial coax from the tuner until the scan passes Ch 21 and reconnect it before it reaches Ch 52 (a digitaluk suggestion for overlapping signal areas). Does this add the data to the epg?

    Hi there,

Yeah aerials are combined, deleted all channels and blind scanned as suggested only inserting the coax aerial after ch21.
Channels saved again but no epg?
Signal strength and quality are 98% & 99%.
    Will re-investigate tonight.
    Thanks for the advice

Contact RTENLL by email , the 7 day epg should be exactly as The Cush said.

There were two posts 12 months apart that I saw, from posters with 1 post each. I wouldn't put that into the crap category. No update from either poster if the replacements had a similar fault.

Probably a similar failure rate to any other new product.

Sorted, deleted DVBTa.dat file in disk2 folder and rescanned ch52 and hey presto epg loaded, happy days.

Looks like i had confused the azbox!
The "residual info" from the initial Mullaghanish signal ch21 scan is prevented ch52 Knockmoyle epg from loading even when Mullaghanish channels were deleted.

This was the reply from RTENL-

Thanks for your query. It’s an unusual observation so I got one of our engineers to check both sites to see if they were both working ok and they are. The EPG data is carried as part of the same signal that enables the receivers to decode the signals and something very odd would have to be happening for the EPG part of the signal to be dropped from the overall signal. Generally with DTT you either get it all or you get nothing.

As well as a piece of test equipment, the engineer took three different set top boxes (zinwell, triax and Saorview approved Walker) and scanned them at both sites and the three of them showed the full 7 day EPG from both sites.

We are happy that the signal from Knockmoyle is fine.

Can’t explain your problem but we are fairly certain it is a receiver issue. There is software in receivers that tries to determine the best signal and perhaps between the scanning from one site to the other there is some residual information being kept and it is getting confused. Try doing a factory reset or reset to default and then boot it up again from start and tune to Knockmoyle.

For up to date info on Saorview see www.saorview.ie
RTÉNL only recommend the use of Saorview approved receivers.

So RTÉNL like the rest of us are using non certified receivers too, good to know :D

Good stuff RTÉNL. Always best to bring an ecosystem with you onsite..just in case. That was a proper investigation and now we know Azbox in a twin reception area can be a crap idea or has crap firmware that builds a crap menu/epg

I am not sure if crap is a bit strong, but i guess having to manually scan a stronger channel (as opposed to blind scan) might beyond some people but once scanned the 7 day epg loads instantly. Happy enough with the azbox elite as a combo for dtt, astra 2 and hotbird, a motor is my next goal.

They even suggested the solution :)
