Ipod AV Connector - not enough connections

    Hi,

OK - so not a techie when it comes to this stuff, but I decided to buy the IPod AV Connector from Apple, arrived today all excited and then I realised that my TV and my DVD only has a 'yellow' connector that says AV in - but there are 3 connectors on the Apple Connector

When I tried to plug it in I get a split screen - so is my TV and DVD too old that I can't us this or am I plugging something into the wrong socket ? I have Audio and a load of DVD's on my Ipod I want to watch.

Sorry if its a bit jumbled what I'm trying to explain - not good at this side of things. Any help - as always would be appreciated.

What colour are the 3 connectors? If there is a white red and yellow, the yellow is video and the other 2 are audio, if it's Red, Green & Blue it's a component video cable and your tv needs to have corresponding coloured sockets t plug this into.

Yellow is for video and the red and white cables are audio, so do you get any picture when the yellow cable is plugged in? Also make sure TV Out is turned on, on the ipod for video and pics.

You may need to get a SCART adapter (you can see what it looks like here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCART) for the ipod av connector if you can't connect the cables directly to the TV.

    Hope this helps.

Then, unless your TV have an RGB (component) input you will need to either send it back to Apple and get a composite (yellow connector) AV cable or buy a component to scart connector.

I'd try sending it back if you can hopefully you still have all the packaging as the RGB connectors carry video only no audio on any of those connectors (HD video only).

THIS is the one you need, you may need to buy a composite to SCART adaptor if your tv doesn't have a yellow composite video IN connector
