What constitutes "download" with reference to broadband allowance?
If you view youtube films or rte realplayer etc is that classed as download?
    thanks

yes. I found those HD youtube vids really eat into your download allowance.

Usually anything that's on the internet that reaches your computer. So receiving an email or viewing boards would be considered as part of your download allowance as would watching youtube/rte player (usually normal web pages and emails don't take up as much though). Some count upload and download though which means even sending an email counts towards your allowance.

Also, be aware that 'bandwidth allowances' include both downloaded data and uploaded data. So if you upload a video from your machine to youtube, that would also count.

Everything counts. Even this page when you reload it will count, all be it a very small proportion of your total. Get a bandwidth or traffic monitor to see what your usage is like over time.
